The Mining Association of Canada (MAC) has announced that Gordon Stothart, Executive VP and Chief Operating Officer for IAMGOLD, has been elected Chair of MAC for the next two-year term. Stothart replaces Anne Marie Toutant, Vice President, Fort Hill Operation, Suncor Energy Inc., who served as Chair from June 2017 to June 2019.

FSC Canada (The Forest Stewardship Council) is one of the newest members of the Canadian Council of Aboriginal Business (CCAB), an organization that helps to build bridges between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples, businesses, and communities. Through this membership, FSC hopes to help foster business relationships between Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal businesses and communities to advance sustainable economic growth across Canada.

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited (TSX: AEM) reports that commercial production was achieved at its Meliadine mine on May 14, 2019. Located near Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, the Meliadine project was acquired in July 2010 and is Agnico Eagle’s largest gold deposit in terms of mineral resources. The company owns 100% of the 111,358-hectare property.
