John Deere adds high-speed felling head option
to J-Series Tracked Feller Bunchers
John Deere's new FR21B high-rotation felling head, available on its 700J-Series Tracked Feller Bunchers, provides faster cutting speeds to help loggers be even more productive.
"Loggers everywhere are always looking for new ways to harvest more trees per shift, and we're working to meet those needs," said Neil Harber, Product Marketing Manager, John Deere Feller Bunchers. "This new felling head option will help them spend less time tracking and more time cutting."

The new FR21B high-rotation felling head is available on both the 753J and the 759J Series models. A Deere-designed high-rotation wrist delivers best-in-class accumulation capacity among medium sized disk-saw felling heads, enabling loggers to cut more trees and track less often. It also provides improved tree holding and tree alignment, and it features easy service access to further improve productivity.

With their large cutting swaths, advanced hydraulic systems and cabs designed for maximum operator productivity, John Deere's compact J-Series Tracked Feller Bunchers are ideal choices for tight or steep-sloped logging. These new options enhance J-Series benefits to maximize logger productivity.

ARGO 8x8 HDi & HD models for forestry, exploration and mining
ARGO has raised the bar again! ARGO's 8x8 HDi and HD models are already legendary for their extreme off-road performance, muskeg-crossing flotation, amphibious capabilities and the capacity to transport equipment and up to 6 passengers. For 2012, the ADMIRAL transmission and driveline have been fine-tuned and there is now an optional high torque ratio transmission to assist in conquering even tougher challenges. The 2012 ARGO's 8x8 HDi and HD powerhouses can be equipped with this transmission option increasing the overall torque by 30% compared to the 2011 version. So, not only will these ARGOs go where other vehicles can't follow, they will also work harder to get you there and back! In addition, this innovative transmission will enhance the performance when these ARGOs are equipped with tracks and are used in heavy mud and deep snow applications.

The amphibious design, the tough fuel-injected 750 cc Kohler EFI engine, and the ADMIRAL transmission add up to making this ARGO 8x8 750 HDi the most powerful, affordable Extreme Terrain Vehicle for the mining and forestry industries. New accessories for 2012 include an optional cargo bed liner, a helicopter lift kit, an adjustable gas can holder and spare tire mount.

Multi-Tasking Cat® machine produces more, burns less fuel
Caterpillar Forest Products introduces the new Cat® 568 FM (forest machine) that delivers more performance – while consuming less fuel – than the previous model. Highlights include an increase in horsepower, more efficient hydraulics, longer track frames for more stability, and ground-level accessibility for maintenance.

Cat forest machines are versatile, purpose-built machines that can be customized to perform many forestry applications. The 568 FM is available in a general forestry configuration for road building, site prep and processing; and in a loader version for log loading, shoveling, butt-n-top loading and mill yard applications. The 568 is the largest in the four-model FM line.

More efficient engine and hydraulics
The 568 is powered by the new 319 net hp Cat® C9.3 ACERTTM engine that provides increased power and torque as compared to the C9 engine in the 330D FM. The 568 also boasts more horsepower than competitive machines in the same class.

New technology was incorporated to ensure that changes to meet emissions requirements would not reduce the life of the system, increase operating costs or reduce productive uptime. The new engine is more powerful and burns less fuel than the previous C9.

The electronic-controlled high-pressure air system includes a new turbo, a new cylinder head design and an integrated valve cover and thermostat. The fuel system includes a new high-pressure pump, electric priming pump, injectors and high-durability fuel lines. The standard fuel capacity has been increased to 317 gal.

The 568's hydraulic efficiency is 10% higher than with the 330D FM. Pumps and other system components are improved and reduce parasitic power losses. The hydraulic valve arrangement and the resized and reshaped oil passages – unique to Cat hydraulic excavators and the 568 – enable freer oil flow. Operators will notice the machine runs smoother and responds more quickly. Also, less engine effort is required to move oil through the hydraulic system, which translates into fuel efficiency gains of up to 5% over the 330D FM, depending on application.

The Flexxaire programmable reversing fan to blow debris out of the radiator and maintain optimum engine temperature, is now standard equipment. Also included as standard is the starting aid for cold weather, which includes two extra batteries, high capacity starter motor, heavy-duty cable, jumper start lines, ether aid and block heater.

Wood-Mizer LT 35 HD portable sawmill
The new LT35HD featuring hydraulic log handling is the first step to reducing labor and increasing productivity. Rugged and compact, this mill will be there where you need it the most and will rise to your challenges.

The LT35HD is the first step in owning a hydraulic mill. With completely hydraulic log handling, logs are loaded easily onto the sawmill bed, then leveled, clamped, and turned to find the optimal cutting angle. It also features a 12V powered joystick head control with integrated simple setworks, not to mention this machine is portable and fitted with a high-quality steel hitch. Hinged blade covers facilitate easy blade changes, and there›s an optional 18HP Kohler diesel engine available.

Owning a hydraulic mill just got easier.

Tigercat 880 Logger does it all
The new Tigercat 880 logger is a multi-purpose, no compromise carrier designed for loading, shovel logging and processing. The 880 is purpose-built to eliminate the design compromises found in excavator conversions. The upper frame assembly and undercarriage are designed for full forest duty.

Some of the many advantages include high cooling capacity, stronger undercarriage components and extremely efficient hydraulic systems, including Tigercat's energy recovery swing system. The result is higher production, uptime and fuel efficiency for lower operating cost per tonne.

Key Benefits
• Twin swing drives and large capacity swing bearing for high torque and long life.
• Energy recovery swing drive system recovers braking energy reducing fuel consumption and heat generation.
• Dedicated swing drive system reserves all main hydraulic pump flow for boom and attachment functions, increasing speed and productivity.
• 300 horsepower engine significantly increases machine productivity and travel speed relative to excavator conversions without compromising fuel efficiency.
• Large side by side heat exchangers with variable flow, reversible cooling fan to save fuel and the keep coolers clean.
• Smooth and precise hydraulic control.
• Power operated, fully opening engine enclosure for excellent service access with optimal component arrangement.
• HID lighting as standard equipment.

Strength and comfort for all terrains
The PONSSE Ergo 8w harvester offers efficiency especially for sloping sites and otherwise demanding terrain. Pulling force has been increased by 14% and the machine can be equipped with balanced bogies for achieving an excellent hill climbing capacity. As an eight-wheeler, the surface pressure of the PONSSE Ergo 8w is lower than that of a similar six-wheeler.

The PONSSE Ergo 8w will, similar to the six-wheel model, continue to be the best harvester in its size class on the market. This is guaranteed by the machine's efficient but economical Mercedes Benz engine, double-circuit hydraulics, and solid and service-friendly structure.
