WINTER 2011
Saskatchewan's first new potash mine in 40 years
The Supervisory Board for German-based K+S AG has given the 'go ahead' to proceed with the construction of the $3.25 billion Legacy Project, located 50 km north of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. Production is expected to begin in 2015 and will employ 300.
The company's Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors, Norbert Steiner, said, "The Legacy Project is a significant step towards the expansion of our potash capabilities and enables us to participate in the growth of the global potash market."
K+S purchased the project a year ago from Potash One Inc., along with neighbouring property that could, conceivably, give birth to Legacy Project II and even III.
