The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada’s (PDAC) Board of Directors has Lisa McDonald as its new Executive Director. Ms. McDonald has played a vital role in PDAC’s success for more than 20 years. Over the past year, she has acted as the Executive Director (Interim), and previously served as PDAC’s Chief Operations Officer (COO) for 10 years where she delivered the strategic goals of the association and oversaw all aspects of operational performance.

To promote greener heating solutions, create new jobs and give a boost to the local economy, the government of Canada is investing $1,432,000 in a forestry initiative in the Yukon Territory. The multiyear investment also helps support biomass projects in Indigenous communities by helping them decide their bioenergy solutions. The initiative aims to increase Indigenous participation in forestry; enhance the competitiveness of the forest economy; reduce diesel use for heating and energy in northern, remote communities; and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

The Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Service Association (SAMSSA) honoured Roy Slack, President of Cementation Canada Inc., as its 2018 Hall of Fame inductee on December 10 at Dynamic Earth in Sudbury. Roy has been instrumental as a service provider to the mining sector for over 35 years, much of that time spent in the Sudbury and North Bay regions.
