On April 2, the Northwestern Ontario Prospectors Association (NWOPA) handed out its annual awards at its spring symposium dinner in Thunder Bay, ON:

Developer of the Year Award – Goldcorp’s Musselwhite Mine for its new $90-million materials handling project, designed to improve ore feed to its mill.

The Bernie Schnieders Discovery of the Year Award – Great Bear Resources’ Dixie Project, the new high-grade discovery outside Red Lake.

The Dave Christianson Lifetime Achievement Awards – Geologist Roger Mitchell and the brother combination of prospectors/ entrepreneurs Michael and Stephen Stares.

The Dan Calvert Distinguished Service Award – Mark Smyk, Resident Geologist Program, Province of Ontario. Congratulations to all recipients!
